In the last five years of his life, radio host Doug Smith created a unique listening experience for morning commuters in Sonoma, Napa and Marin Counties. He invited local experts on medicine, literature, wine, food, theater, art, and live music to have a brief radio show each week to share what was happening in the community. In the Fall of 2001, the KRSH afternoon DJ, Bill Bowker, introduced Gil to Doug. The resulting “Cinema Toast” movie show originally aired as a pre-recorded 3-minute segment, but the duo clicked together and soon went “live.” Audience response was so positive the allotted air time tripled.
